Axle Bolts
Our axle bolts fit the Total Gym® 2000, 3000, and XL and are machined from tool steel, hardened and tempered for extreme strength. They are black oxide plated for corrosion protection. The crown nut, lock nut and washers are made of stainless steel. Our axles are much stronger than the original axle bolts. The original axle bolts are standard bolts designed for tension fastening, not to be an axle resisting bending. On our set of original axle bolts, the bolt diameters varied from .203" to .229", that is a 12-13% diameter variation. Our axles are machined on a computer controlled lathe from precision tool steel drill rod, hardened and tempered for strength.

If an axle is bent, it can cause damage to the wheels. A bent axle can cause the wheels to pinch together and stop rolling and develop flat spots, or it can cause the roller to contact the rail only on one side causing high stress and damage the wheel and/or the bearing. We recommend checking the axles when replacing the wheels or if you suspect that you may have a bend axle. Axles are usually bent by making a "hard landing" after tipping the glideboard by getting off-balance. After the axle bolt is bent, any additional "hard landings" can do more damage because the wheels will impact at an angle and result in higher stresses.

To check your axles, disassemble and remove the axles on one side (leave the other side intact as a template for reassembly). Place the axle on a flat surface with the bolt-head hanging off the side. Roll the axle to see if the shaft of the axle remains in contact with the flat surface. If the axle is bent, you should straighten the axle or replace it.

Hitch Pins
These are the pins that hold in the "Foot Holder/Pull Up Bar Attachment" or "Wing Attachment" for the TG 1000/1500/1700 Club/EX/pro/Ultra/Supra. If your pins are bent and difficult to insert or lost, you can replace them with our very high quality Stainless Steel pins that are more resistant to bending.

We stopped carrying the hitch pins for the Total Gym® 2000 and 3000 because the 1/4" diameter of the pin is not strong enough for the loads. See the "UltraPin II" below to see our stronger replacement for the hitch pins for the Total Gym® 2000 and 3000.

Note: We now have the new UltraPin Jr to replace the hitch pins (we'll still sell the hitch pins, but the UltraPin Jr. is better) for the Wing Attachment on the Total Gym® 1000/1500/1700 Club/EX/pro/Ultra/Supra and some others. The hitch pins are strong enough for this application, but the UltraPin is so much quicker and easier to use, we wanted to make it available. New Hitch Pin on Assembly

UltraPin II
This is a single, long pin that replaces both of the original hitch pins for the "Foot Holder/Pull UP Bar Attachment" for the 2000, 3000, and XL models. You only need one UltraPin II. It is made from tool steel, hardened and tempered for extreme strength, and plated for corrosion protection. This unique design is much stronger and easier to use. If you use the "Foot Holder/Pull UP Bar Attachment" with lots of force, or you switch attachments regularly, you may want to upgrade to the UltraPin II to avoid bent pins and make changeovers quicker. The hitch pins for this application are not strong enough and have a tendency to bend or break.
